Whatever happened to the Christians who die for the truth? I admit that I have never been one of his admirers. He is too involved with politicians and money for my taste, in disagreement with what - according to my understanding - the Gospel is all about. His present retraction proves to me that he must have been put under heavy economic pressure - most probably by the government. It also proves to me that he is just a loud mouth without real convictions. Now, this is the problem that the American church faces these days: treacherous wannabe leaders or gelly-kneed ones with a long yellow streak on their backs, pathetic cholerics full of desire for power, control and money - in front of which altar they genuflex at Satan's will. What image are we giving to the world of the One we call our Master? The truth is this: Allah is a filthy demon from hell and Mohammed was a cruel demon-possessed false prophet who live the violent life of a mass murderer or terrorist. Churches also are exempt from property taxes, and some communities bemoan the loss of revenue they could otherwise collect for roads, the police department and other services. Especially controversial are the nontraditional services that megachurches offer, from hotels and day care centers to bookstores and health clubs - activities that often would not be permitted in residential neighborhoods if they weren't on church grounds. These quasi-business ventures bring in people and generate traffic throughout the week, not just on Sundays. Congress in 2000 enacted the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act to prevent cities from using zoning laws to keep out religious institutions. It essentially gives churches the freedom to ignore local land-use restrictions unless there is a compelling governmental interest to stop them from building what they want [ The Megachurch is not the model found in the New Testament. For 315 years (the best years in Christian history) churches - due maily to cleansing persecution - met in small goups in private homes or caves. Later on, when the friendly relationship with the world was established through Emperor Constantine, temples begun to be built and big groups begun to gather together. It is interesting that it was right around that time that disaster grab hold of the church and the fresh, vibrant and sacrificial church of heroes soon became the prostrated, dead, sinful, apostate Catholic church. But we, Christians, do not want to learn from such tragic lesson of our own history. We want fun and prestige among many other things that the world offers, but that kill the most important elements of the Gospel in us. The American church has been defeated badly by what this article exposes. If we do not care about our neighbours, how can we reach them and show them that we and most of all jesus love them? The rich and political and socially powerful Church in America is feeble, weak, lost and in darkness (unable to see reality) and worst of all: unrepentant. Times of great distress, pain and persecution are coming, and this shall cleanse us all from the many wolfs that now dessolate that spiritually pauper that we call the American church. The time is near and shall strike suddenly, devastating what the American Christians love the most: fun and entertainment, confort, financial security and most of all, an easy "Christian" life. The dark clouds are already advancing from the horizon. Their rumblings shake already the ground where you stand. Can you feel it? Do you hear it? Are you ready? Three men and two women died after being fired upon at petrol stations and shopping centres in Montgomery County Maryland, to the north of the US capital. Doctors analysed data from patients aged 16 and under who attended a genitourinary medicine clinic in London during the months of March and October 1998. The average age was 15, but some girls were as young as 12. Over the two months, 144 girls were seen by a doctor at the clinic. Of these, 27 were pregnant. Most had been pregnant at least once - and one 15-year-old girl said she had been pregnant ten times. Although this claim could not be verified, the girl, who had a history of sexual abuse, already had one child, had had two confirmed terminations and another positive pregnancy test. Of the 117 girls who were not pregnant at the time, three quarters said they were not using any form of contraception. Almost two thirds of the girls had a sexually transmitted infection, a rate almost three times that of other women attending the clinic.
